Headed for the Last Frontier? Burns Lake is the last KOA going north to Alaska. The surrounding wilderness is an angler's dream, dotted with hundreds of lakes. Some are accessible only by boat or floatplane; local outfitters can take campers for a fishing memory of a lifetime. Burns Lake is the northern portal to Tweedsmuir Provincial Park. The chains of lakes here create great canoe trips. Hike the Shelford Opal Bed Trail, which overlooks the town, or hunt for the gems at the nearby Eagle Creek Opal Beds. When guests tire of casting or paddling, they often challenge a fellow camper with the campground's pool table or Scrabble board. Stroll through the lovely trees and flowers on KOA's 35 acres (within walking distance of a lake), then watch the stars fill the wild northern sky.
Open from May to September, Babine Lake Marine Provincial Park offers 20 campsites and a boat launch. Enjoy fishing for rainbow trout and char. No reservations are available.
Beaver Point Resort is a family-oriented vacation destination offering 40 campsites as well cabins and cottages for rent. Water, sewer and electric services are available with 15/30 amps. Other amenities include boat/motor rentals, laundry, flush toilets and coin showers.
